Contributor Guidelines

Anyone can submit an article to General Posting. Submission is free. Publication is not guaranteed, and most submissions are declined.

Before you write

Read a few of our published articles first. The ones that get through are written for a reader, not for a search engine, and they tell that reader something they can use.

What we accept

  • Original work. Not published elsewhere, not previously published here, not spun from another article.
  • A real subject. Something specific enough to be useful: how a thing works, what it costs, what to watch for.
  • Roughly 700–1,500 words, in clear English, broken up with subheadings.
  • A named author with a genuine profile. We do not publish under invented identities.
  • Sources where you state a fact that a reader might reasonably question.

What we decline

  • Articles written to place a link. If the piece only exists to carry a URL, it will not run.
  • Replica, counterfeit, first-copy or knock-off products.
  • Gambling and betting, nicotine and vaping, prescription medicines, and anything illegal in Australia.
  • Thin or generic filler — the kind of article that could have been written about any company in any city.
  • Keyword-stuffed titles, and location keywords jammed into text that has nothing to do with the location.
  • Duplicate submissions, including resubmitting an article already on this site.

Links

This matters, so it is worth being direct about it.

  • You may link to your own site once, where it is genuinely relevant.
  • Outbound links in contributed articles carry rel="ugc nofollow". They do not pass ranking signal, and submitting an article here will not help anyone’s link profile.
  • Anchor text should describe the destination, not a keyword you are targeting.
  • Links to sites selling anything in the declined list above will see the whole article rejected.

Images

Supply one image you have the right to use, with a caption or credit. Do not upload stock photography you have not licensed.

How to submit

Create an account, then write your article in the dashboard and submit it for review. Existing contributors can log in.

What happens next

A person reads it. If it runs, it runs — we may edit for clarity, length, formatting and link compliance without asking first. If it does not, we generally will not write back explaining why; the list above is the explanation.

Rights

You keep copyright in what you write. By submitting, you give General Posting a perpetual, non-exclusive right to publish, edit and keep it on the site. You confirm the work is yours and does not infringe anyone else’s rights.

We may unpublish or remove any contributed article at any time, including later, if it stops meeting these guidelines or our Editorial Policy.
