Starting out as a small vintage marketplace in 2015, Curated Spaces was founded by Pip Newell in her Victorian home after she purchased a set of chairs online only to realize that it didn’t work with her current space, leaving her to put them back up for sale online.
Cult following
Newell went on to pursue sourcing vintage homewares and reselling them on Facebook Marketplace for a solid year before she decided to launch Curated Spaces on Instagram in 2017. Since then, the brand has fostered a cult-following for their niche and highly coveted vintage offerings garnering over 156,000 followers on Instagram–one of which includes pop princess Ariana Grande, no less.
Peruse through their website, and you’ll find before you a treasure trove of pieces by some of the Interior Design world’s most respected luminaries. A Mario Bellini Camaleonada Sofa here, a Michel Ducaroy Togo Settee there, the Curated Spaces website is the thing of fairytales for Interior Designers and enthusiasts alike.
At the very core of Curated Spaces also lies sustainability. When asked about their curation process, founder Pip Newell shared in an exclusive interview with Domain: “My goal is to reuse and repurpose as much furniture as we can,” she says. “So far we’ve sold 1000 secondhand pieces and the other day I tried to visualise how much space that would have taken up if it ended up in landfill.”
Namesake furniture line
Seven years on, Curated Spaces only continues to flourish. Most recently, the brand launched their very own namesake furniture line with the mission to bring beautiful functional, and accessible furniture into as many homes as possible. Their debut product release: the This & That Shelf is the first of an exciting range of furniture and homewares to be designed by the team.
